Welcome to Summer Term in the Explorers.

Summer term we are moving into looking at where our food comes from and a trip to Blaze Farm will allow us to meet some animals in person. This term also involves sports week and we are lucky enough to have two trips booked, one to Kings Swimming Pool and Bush Craft and another to Fun 4 All soft play in Macclesfield.

During this term we are going to be looking at length and measure and becoming secure with the concept big and small.  Our language focus will be on understanding big and small as concepts with older pupils beginning to use the measuring tools to accurately measure objects and compare lengths and heights.

Within our literacy sessions we will be using colourful semantics to build on our sentence structure and understanding the main parts of a sentence.  We will also be looking to sequence our familiar stroies.  Sensory exploration of different sections of the texts will also take place where appropriate.  Please see attached our whole class reading texts, my personal favourite is 'You're Called What?'.

Our coordination station continues to develop our gross motor skills, core strength and balance.  Our daily finger gym activities are going to continue to develop our fine motor skills and increase our writing stamina.  You can see the attached curriculum leaflet for a bit more information.  The children continue to have input from our SALT providers.

We hope for lots of fun as we move through the final term of this academic year.
