Resourced Provision for Children with Autism

Welcome to our Resource Provision page.  We are a provision for 14 pupils with a diagnosis of Autism or on the Autism pathway and an EHCP. Our committed staff pride themselves on ensuring pupils reach their potential whilst celebrating every child’s progress.

We are committed to the school vision and are passionate about enabling our children to be life-long learners, who are able to meet the challenges and possibilities of an ever-changing world.

We recognise the importance of developing skills in communication and place interaction at the core of each learning opportunity. Speech and Language Therapists work extensively with KS1 and KS2 pupils, implementing strategies which  provide essential tools for them to progress and achieve.

We have modelled our curriculum on Communication Pathways.

The priority for EYFS and KS1 pupils is working through Communication Pathways 1-4, which form a solid foundation to progress to the National Curriculum using the Aspire Trust End Points. We use the Cherry Garden Model to assess EYFS and KS1 pupils and Tapestry to evidence this and to inform parents regularly of their child’s learning. KS2 pupils are assessed within the Communication Pathway 4 and 5, covering the National Curriculum and using assessment against the Aspire Trust End Points. We use Seesaw to evidence this.

Our curriculum is geared towards sensory provision, but we aim to deliver lessons to suit the individual learners with bespoke timetables where appropriate.

We appreciate that pupils, on occasion, need extra time or space away from others to allow them to regulate.  Our provision is a purpose-built building with a breakout space in each classroom. We also have an additional room, which the children assess for sensory circuits and sensory regulation. Alongside our lessons, our range of interventions includes Attention Autism, PACT, Lego Therapy, and Intensive Interaction.

We pride ourselves on delivering a curriculum that is broad and balanced and we aim to incorporate as many of the individual pupils’ interests as possible.  We recognise each learner is unique, and aim to deliver lessons which are fun, engaging, memorable and lead to a love of learning.
